The Internship position provides educational opportunities for students to work at the YMCA to gain business and operational experiences which transfer to work skills for their future employment. Duties and responsibilities vary based on assignment and needs of the YMCA department or project.

Essential Functions

  • Demonstrates behaviors and actions consistent with YMCA values, code of conduct and other policies and procedures.
  • Performs duties and responsibilities as outlined for the task or projects assigned (see the Learning Agreement).
  • Participates in training and application of skills necessary to perform assigned duties and responsibilities.
  • Communicates with identified internship supervisor reporting on progress, making recommendations, preparing reports, etc.
  • Obtains feedback from internship supervisor to enhance skill development.

Qualifications – Required

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High School graduate or equivalency.
  • Course work related to the assignment or project.
  • Basic computer proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Commitment to fulfill scheduled hours to accomplish assigned duties and tasks.
  • Willingness to learn and ask questions to enhance the development process.

Qualifications – Preferred

  • Pursuit of degree program directly related to the assignment or project.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Department: Information Technology with Securian 

This position is part of our college intern program. Internships are typically 12 weeks during the summer months. This internship is available for four-year college students the summer before their graduation date.
Please note: We will only be pursuing candidates who are currently authorized to work in the United States. We will not be pursuing candidates where Visa sponsorship is needed.
What you would do in this job:
As an Information Technology intern, you will receive valuable practical work experience in our state-of-the-art Information Services department and an overview of home office operations. Interns will participate in various portions of our full-time Programmer Analyst training, depending on the anticipated project work the intern will be involved with on their team. Components of the training program may include: program design, coding conventions, testing and debugging, and software tools and techniques. Upon successful completion of training, interns will work with applications development teams of four to eight associates providing support for numerous systems development activities, including both the mainframe and/or PC environment.
Projects vary each summer because they are real world experiences. They are not simulated projects, but projects that have relevance to immediate business needs of the company. Successful interns from this program get first consideration for full-time Information Services positions.

 Under the supervision of the Manager, the Field Services Intern will have ownership for one or more of the technical aspects of department related projects.

Supporting the diagnosis and resolution of infrastructure (network, server and telecommunications) based issues involving storage, virtualization, security, etc.
This position will work cross-functionally with other departments within ESI.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Analyze ESI systems, processes and technical infrastructure under the guidance of team appointed mentor.
Perform code and data analysis on existing systems and infrastructure.
Review all issues, technical designs and proposed solutions with team mentor.
Participate in team meetings, technical reviews, client assessments and presentations to other functional areas on various projects as needed.
Makes or assists in making oral or written presentations to management

QUALIFICATIONS

Full-time student in an accredited 4 year college, graduate program with an emphasis in Information Technology

Our Enterprise CarShare Internship plays an integral role in the success of the Enterprise CarShare program downtown Minneapolis.
